Anthony M. Carrato,
M.D., earned his doctorate in medicine from the Jefferson Medical
College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. His postgraduate
work includes surgical training at the Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital, Department of Surgery.
Prior to earning his medical
degree, Dr. Carrato had graduated from MMI Preparatory School in
Freeland, and had earned his bachelor of science degree from St.
Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Carrato
has been an active staff member of both the Hazleton General Hospital
and the Hazleton-Saint Joseph Medical Center since 1996. He also
serves on the Board of Directors for Hazleton General Hospital and
was Chief of Surgery for the Hazleton-Saint Joseph Medical Center
from 1998 to 2001.
Dr. Carrato is certified by the American Board
of Surgery in General Surgery, the American College of Surgeons
for Stereotactic Breast Biopsies and by the University of Pennsylvania
for Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsies for Breast Cancer and Melanoma.
He also is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow
of the International College of Surgeons.
Dr. Carrato's society memberships include the
American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons,
the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society,
the Luzerne County Medical Society, the Knights of Columbus, and
the Lion's Club International.
Dr. Carrato resides in Hazleton with his wife
Carmine and their children Angela, Anthony, Maria, Dana and Nicholas.
