Hameed A. Butt, M.D., received his undergraduate degree at
the Government College in Lahore, Pakistan. He went on to earn his
medical degree at King Edward Medical College, also in Lahore. After
finishing his education in Pakistan, Dr. Butt completed his General
and Vascular surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in
Philadelphia, and followed with a Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery
residency at Temple University. He continued his education with a
post-graduate course in bronchoesophagology at the Temple School of
Medicine.
Dr. Butt also had a variety of post-doctoral training.
He was a Fellow in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Deborah
Heart and Lung Center in Brownsmills, N.J., and was inducted as
a Fellow into the American College of Surgery in New Orleans, L.A.
Since he completed his extensive medical training,
Dr. Butt has been affiliated with Hazleton area medical facilities.
He has been affiliated with both Hazleton General Hospital and Hazleton-Saint
Joseph Medical Center since 1978. Dr. Butt has been the medical
director of the Non-Invasive Diagnostic Vascular Laboratory, located
in Hazleton-Saint Joseph Medical Center, since 1993, and the medical
director of the Non-Invasive Diagnostic Vascular Laboratory at Hazleton
General Hospital since 1982. Dr. Butt also held the position of
Chief of Surgery at Hazleton General Hospital from 1996 to 2001,
and is on the Board of Trustees at the Hazleton-Saint Joseph Medical
Center.
Dr. Butt is a member of the International College
of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical
Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Luzerne County
Medical Society.
Dr. Butt resides in Sugarloaf with his wife Tahira,
and their two children.
