Michael David Bono,
M.D., earned his Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington
University in Washington, D.C. and went on to receive his Doctorate
in Medicine from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bono's postgraduate training includes a surgical residency at
the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, V.A.
and a fellowship in The Diabetes Institute also at the Eastern Virginia
Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Bono's work experience includes assistant
radiation therapist and lab technologist at the George Washington
University Hospital, Quality Control Coordinator at AMICI Inc. Medical
Supply Company in Spring City, P.A., Emergency Room Admitting Officer
at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton, V.A. and currently
a partner in the surgical practice of Drs. Butt, Carrato, and Bono.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Bono
is Chief of Surgery at Hazleton General Hospital and an active staff
member at both Hazleton General Hospital and Hazleton-Saint Joseph
Medical Center.
Dr. Bono is a member of the American College of
Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
Dr. Bono and his wife Peg have three children:
Annie, Maggie, and Cole.
Dr. Bono has a special interest in Bariatric
Surgery, which is the surgical treatment for obesity. Dr. Bono
has started this region's first and only support group for those
with severe obesity who are considering Bariatric Surgery (see
